Try Gardening to Live Longer, Healthier

I found a story on Newsmax Health by Donna V. Scaglione where she describes several reasons why there is a strong connection between gardening and living longer and healthier lives. She states that research shows that “gardeners eat more vegetables which help fight chronic disease, have better hand strength, and greater zest for life. They also are more likely to rate their quality of life as ‘excellent’ or ‘very good’.” She lists several reasons to grab your garden tools:

1. Have more zest for life
2. Get your exercise
3. Build hand strength
4. Eat more veggies
5. Skip the pesticides
6. Stay healthy

Cut Your Cancer Risk With Smart Lifestyle Choices

Dr. Wascher: Cut Your Cancer Risk With Smart Lifestyle Choices

Tuesday, June 14, 2011 9:29 AM

While important breakthroughs in molecularly targeted cancer treatments offer promising news for cancer patients, banishing tobacco use still would have the most important effect on cutting cancer risk and death, says Dr. Robert Wascher, senior surgical oncologist at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Phoenix.

“If you eliminated tobacco from society today, that would by far have the greatest impact on reducing cancer risk and cancer-associated death,” Wascher, author of “A Cancer Prevention Guide for the Human Race,” tells Newsmax Health.
